Defiance Games UAMC: Proxy guard??

Ok well being a Guard guy myself I like to see guardsmen on the table. GW can be expensive so Many look for alternate figures, or Proxies.  I have a buddy that has been play testing Defiance games new release called "Alien War" and they have some interesting models in the line.

Currently they have UAMC Marines and soon will have German troops and Tyranid/Starship trooper ESQ bugs for the General pops. I preordered a Box of Marine for my own personal use and just got them in the mail last week. And I will say they are AWESOME.... SO I decided to share with everyone!

First about Defiance Games
I found about them from a friend and got a link to their FACEBOOK PAGE, so I could look at their stuff. The company has a link to their store from their facebook page where they sell the models. Checkout is secure Via ECWID (some type of facebook shopping cart) and you can pay via many common methods as google checkout or Paypal as I did. I got the small starter pack of 24 marines for $30 and $5 shipping (VS $85 plus shipping for GW 2XCadian troops and a command)  And here is whats in the box-

And some assembled and painted examples:

And for those of you wondering.....
Now some people are complaining about the Arms..... the arms are more "truescale" VS GW scale creep heroic hands and arms..... They are smaller but are more realistic VS GW scale.... Heres a pic to demonstrate.

Now about what I think of them
I like defiance games and HOPE they do Very well. When my marines came in I had a Extra sprue for me to have "Just for me" and a personal hand written note from "Tony" the Company Owner. I LOVE this attention to Customers. And the products are Great. Not ONE SINGLE MISCAST and everything is on a well thought out and assembled sprue that INTERLOCKS with the other sprues so it can stand stacked without sliding and falling over. Great attention to details with everything.  I'm sold on this company and will purchase some of the Germans when they come out and the female Marines also. I hope they expand the Human range as THAT'S what I like.

Now what am I going to do with them?? Well I originally was interested in the Armored legs and was going to use them for some of my Bloodpact. But I think I might make a squad or more with these legs and make some  of them complete models and try to learn the game. Worst case scenario I can use them for IG and get them 2-3X the models for the price.....

Anyway Give them a look if your interested and till next time, Serve the Emperor well

Not 40K but just as important...IMHO

OK well I try to keep this Blog as a "40K only" blog but every so often something comes my way and I have to share with everyone I can. this is one of those things. Im sure We all know someone who can benefit from Authurs Story and become inspired. not and Even if you dont know me personally, maybe you will stumble upon this post and have an epiphany to change your life or to help some one you know change theirs.

The following is a cut and paste from my personal blog, and I hope someone here needs this message and sees it. Enjoy, even if it does not pertain to you.

OK well Im not one to be inspired by others stories, I try to make my own. But this story of a disabled vet touched me in a place I have not been touched in a long time, and his victory has made me a better person just by hearing it. I would like to share this with everyone I can, not because its a Vet but because its just a fantastic story. I sympathize with his plight being not only a vet myself but a Paratrooper also. Stories like these are Wonderful Even if your not affected by it Maybe you know someone who Might.

Crap-Mera DONE!!! WIP and completed pics!!

OK well the Crap-Mera salvage project was a success..... I have not posted much because I literally was Working , Sleeping, and doing this project for the past 4 days.  No worries though I did take some WIP pics and such for everyone to see..... OK well Lets get started!!

I left you with a semi salvaged Chimera.... Pulled apart and dry fitted for an Idea of what it would look like.... And some ideas for what i was wanting to do. Well Not everything went as planned and I will leave it at that.... Here is some pics of the baby steps of the project:
Starter Chimera:
And initial refit:
As you notice I chopped out some of the hull to make room for the second copula to fit in with more of the M113 look. This required a little styrene sheeting to fill and some time, but overall easy conversion. From there I chiseled out the glue from the sides and glued them in place. Heres a pick of that nasty glue
Once glued into place I then looked to detail parts and dryfitting them into the hull. I wanted a handfull of pre made parts for this to save time Yet give it a well used machine full of useful stuff. Hers the dryfits of the details
And the commanders coffee....;)
I then went on to fill in gaps and such with Squadron putty..... for those of you not familiar with this product Dont worry, its hard to use and NO FUN. its what I had so I used it. Its smelly, and only thins with Acetone, BUT you CAN get some pretty good results if you know what your doing.... I dont, but I was happy with my results for the most part.
OK well after this we went to the Paintshop....Sadly I dont have many pics at this stage.... I ran into problems with my airbrush and was really upset about it and just did not take pics..... BUT I will describe. I painted the chimera with Rust primer (color) and went over areas  with Red-browns and oranges to mottle the colors some. I sprayed gloss clear to protect the paint and I then sponged on Artist mask and went to painting. After my colors were in place (greys in this case) I just brushed the mask off for a well rusted  look. From there I just added washes and some weathering to taste and this is what I eneded with:

Now on to the Base.... I was short on time so I did not use the wood base from my Warhound, but instead got a picture frame from Jo Anns for $5 or so and used it. I glossed the frame and then Masked off the frame to avoid getting glue and sand on the nice gloss surface. From there I added some Fimo hills and glued the sand to the Backing.
Then painted it and drybrushed it like any other Base....
After that I simply glued the chimera to the base.....

And VERY SOON after I noticed I had forgotten the Commo antennae so I added those and named it "Rust Bucket" by freehanding that on the side......And dressed up the antennae with a Wine foil Guidon, Complete with crossed rifles and in Infantry Blue..... And Now Im calling it DONE!!!

SO Remember.... That with a little work (4 days of 4-5 hours a night) Even the most horrific tragedy of a model can be revived to serve the Emperor again..... And if you still think its too far His Glorious service??? Chaos the HECK out of it!! Nurgle needs more crap too!! But thats the NEXT model time....;)

Till next time Serve the Emperor well,
Munkey
